Landscaping & Garden Design in Skipton and Yorkshire
A good garden starts below the surface. At Crown Hill Contracting we treat every landscaping job as a construction project first: getting the levels, drainage and ground preparation right so that the patio stays flat, the lawn doesn’t waterlog and the walls stay standing. From our base in Cononley, just outside Skipton, we transform gardens and outdoor spaces for homeowners, landlords and commercial clients across North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lancashire.
What Our Landscaping Covers
Because we carry out groundworks, paving, walling and fencing ourselves, we can take on a complete garden transformation without handing parts of the job to other trades. A typical landscaping project can include:
- Site clearance, excavation and regrading of sloping gardens
- Drainage, so water runs away from the house and off the lawn
- Patios, paths and steps in natural stone, porcelain or block paving
- Retaining walls, drystone walling and fencing
- Artificial grass and composite or timber decking
- Bases for summerhouses, pagodas and workshops
Our Landscaping Process
You deal with Tom directly from the first conversation to the last barrow load, so nothing gets lost between a salesperson and the people doing the work.
- Site visit and quote. We come out, look at the ground, the levels and the access, talk through what you want and give you a clear, no obligation quote.
- Groundwork and preparation. Our own machines clear and dig out the site, set the levels and put in any drainage before anything is built on top.
- Building the garden. Patios, walls, steps, fencing and lawns go in, each built to the same construction standard we use on commercial sites.
- Final tidy up. We clear away spoil and waste and leave the garden ready to use.
Why Choose Crown Hill Contracting
With over 15 years’ experience, most of our landscaping work comes from word of mouth and repeat customers. Clients choose us for a high standard of construction, a professional and reliable service, and attention to detail on the parts of the job you’ll never see, like the sub-base under a patio or the backfill behind a retaining wall. That’s what makes a garden last in the Yorkshire weather.

Tom did a great job laying a stone patio upon which we will put a summerhouse. A really clean and tidy job. Tom was also able to advise on ideas, materials, sizing etc. Really professional. Honest pricing. Thanks Tom.

Patios and Paving
“Within budget and on time” only goes part of the way to explaining why choosing the local firm, Crown Hill Contracting Ltd, was a good decision. Their accurate assessment of both what needed to be done and the materials that would be used, together with a high standard of construction work, has resulted in a project completed with minimum disruption that has won praise from us and our neighbours. Thank you very much.

Patio and Paving
Thank you so much once again for doing our garden. I can’t believe how fast you managed to turn it around! It looks fantastic and you’ve put my mind at rest knowing the walls are safe, especially on the public path side. Please thank the other guys who came too; you’ve all smashed it and left it looking exactly how we wanted it, as well as very neat and tidy. We will be in touch for more work in the future and will be 100% recommending you to all!

Flagging – Patio
From the initial planning visit through to completion, it was evident that Tom prides himself on providing quality workmanship and ensuring complete customer satisfaction. Tom and his team were professional and respectful of the environment in which they worked – they were punctual, hardworking and the site was kept clean and tidy. As the project progressed, Tom regularly checked in with me to make certain that I was happy with the work and to accommodate any changes that I wanted to make, and this extended to a post-completion visit. I can highly recommend CHC.

I recently had artificial grass installed in my garden, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. The team was incredibly professional from start to finish, working efficiently and completing the job much quicker than I expected. Their attention to detail was outstanding, and they made sure everything was done to the highest standard. Would highly recommend.
